William Blake wrote poems of social protest about the way children were exploited during the Industrial Revolution. He was angry that the Church didn’t help children when it should have because it was greedy. Blake sympathised with the French Revolution.
William Wordsworth
1770-1850
William Wordsworth loved nature and landscapes. His view of London is romanticised compared to Blake’s view. Wordsworth believed in the power of nature over humans and believed the two should co-exist.
In ‘This World’ poem he criticises the world for being absorbed in the greed of the Industrial Revolution at the expense of nature.
