Q

How is the poor housing on the reservation contributing to health of Indigenous peoples?

A

> The infestation of black mould is a significant factor to the Indigenous people’s terrible health. It causes fatal conditions to infants, children, and elderly. Exposure to this mould can cause haemorrhaging o the lungs and brains, and as well as cancer.
At least 60% of homes need to be burnt down due to this (^) infestation.

> over 33% of homes lack basic water and sewage systems.
39% of homes have no electricity.
Many people have to carry (often contaminated) water from local rivers, daily.
Many people have to sleep on dirt floors
Many homes lack insulation, resulting in families using their oven to heat their home. During winter, risks of hyperthermia skyrocket.
