What is the GOC and what are their four main jobs
The GOC is a regulatory body for optometrists dispensing opticians, student optometrist and student dispensing opticians.
Their core functions are number one set standards for optical education and training number two approved qualification leading to registration number three, maintain register the people who are qualified to fit to practice and number four, investigate an actual registered fitness to practice has been impaired
List standards of practice for GOC
Listen to the patient and ensure they are part of the decision-making process.
Communicate effectively with patience.
Obtain valid consent.

Make sure your knowledge and skills are up-to-date, and for students make sure you know when you’re out of your limits.

Maintain adequate patient records.
