Unpaid Work Requirement
Offender takes part in community activities e.g. building a playground, conservation project, painting school buildings. The offender should work between 40-300 hours usually at the weekend.
Rehabilitation Activity Requirement
An activity to help the offender e.g. mentoring support, educational courses and meeting with the victim if appropriate (restorer of justice).
Programme Requirement
offender participates on a specified educational or practical course e.g. anger management for a domestic violence offence.
Prohibited Activity Requirement
Offender cannot take part in certain activities. The court will set out the time and length of the restriction e.g. for fighting there is a 6 month ban for attending matches.
Curfew Requirement and Electronic Tag
Offender must stay at a specified place between 12-16 hours in any 24 hour period (curfew). This is enforced by an electric tag and the offender is tracked by the police. The curfew is between 6-12 months.
Exclusion Requirement
Offenders are prohibited from going to certain places/areas where they are most likely to commit crimes.
Residence Requirement
Offender must reside with a specified person like a grandparent. This aims to get the offender away from a certain area or their own household.
Foreign Travel Prohibition Requirement
The offender will surrender their passport for a set period.
Mental Health Treatment Requirement
Residential or non-residential under the care of psychiatrist/counsellor, which treats the cause of the crime.
Drug Rehabilitation/ Alcohol Treatment Requirement
Residential/non-residential treatment to reduce or eliminate dependency on drugs/alcohol. Treats the cause of a crime.
Supervision Requirement
Offender is under the supervision of a probation officer from 6 months to 3 years and must attend regular appointments.
Attendance Centre requirement
Offender usually attends on a Saturday and participates in training and employment, sports, cooking etc. (max 36 hours)
