What is community development?
Community development is the economic and social advancement of a local area or local community by the efforts of local civilians and residents. It involves collective action to reach the community’s desired goals through a process of self-help and spirit of enterprise.

Jobs are directly created in the community, reducing unemployment.

With increased employment and increased visitor numbers, more income is being spent in the community increasing spin-off jobs in the retail and services business.
Enterprise culture-
New enterprise is encouraged and promoted.
It influences people to come up with ideas to develop the area.
Income for local authorities- commercial rates are an important source of income for local authorities
Community spirit is uplifted.
Improved Infrastructure-
With the increased investments into the community, more money can be spent on renovating old buildings.
