It is a theory that states that once one country falls to communism, all the neighbouring countries will also fall to communism. This was the thought behind the containment policy.

A military strategy used by the American government which led America to contain military aggression as close to the original line of contact possible. This was the rationale behind the US army stationed in the Cold wars in Korea, Vietnam, etc.
