Lawyer referral service define
service that holds itself out as providing referrals to lawyers for person who need legal services. Qualified lawyer referral services are those that are consumer orientated.
Referrals rule
lawyer may not pay or give anything of value to a person for recommending the lawyers services. A recommendation is a communication that endorses a lawyer’s abilities.
Exceptions to referral rule
may pay reasonable costs of adverts;
Reciprocal referral agreements
Arrangement in which a lawyer and another person refer clients. CAn be done as long as the agreement is non exclusive.
Comms regarding field of practice rule
May not say he is certified unless it is ABA or state approved. But can say he specializies.
