PARACETAMOL (Analgesic/ Antipyretic)
BRAND NAME: Tempra, Calpol, Biogesic, Tylenol
DOSAGE FORM: 120mg, 325mg, 500mg, 650mg
ADMINISTRATION: Tablet- 1 tablet (500mg), every 4-6 hours as needed for fever/pain.
Do not exceed 8 tabs in one day (4,000mg)
IBUPROFEN (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/ NSAIDS)
BRAND NAME: Advil, Medicol Advance
DOSAGE FORM: Capsules- 200mg,
400mg (Softgel, Liquigel)
ADMINISTRATION: Tablet- If 200mg-1 tab q6h
If 400mg-1 tab q8h
Do not exceed 6 tablets (1,200mg)
CETIRIZINE (Antihistamine)
BRAND: Alnix, Virlix, Rite Med
DOGE: 10mg tablet
ADMINISTRATION: 1 tablet, once a day. Preferably before bedtime/night
LLORATIDINE (Antihistamine)
BRAND: Alerta, Claritin
DOSAGE: 10mg Tablet
ADMINISTRATION: 1 tab, once a day. Take in most convenient time
GUAIFENESIN (Expectorant)
BRAND: Robitusin
DOSAGE: Softgel Capsule- 200mg, Syrup- 100mg/ 5mL
ADMINISTRATION: 5-10mL every 4 hours (Adult dose)
PHENYLEPHRINE HCL, CHLORPHENAMINE MALEATE, PARACETAMOL
(Nasal Decongestant/ Antihistamine/ Antipyretic)
BRAND: Neozep, Bioflu, Decolgen Forte
DOSAGE: Tablet- 10mg/ 2mg/ 500mg
Syrup- 2.5mg/ 0.5mg/125mg per 5mL
Drops- 1mg/0.8mg per mL
ADMINISTRATION: Tablet- 1 tab, q6h. Do not exceed 5 days
Syrup- Depends on age. Dispensing note is to tell patient not to exceed 5 days

LOPERAMIDE (Antimotility)
BRAND: Diatabs, Immodium, Lomotil
DOSAGE: 2mg Capsule/ Tablet
ADMINISTRATION: 2 capsules/ tablet taken initially. 1 tablet/capsules every loose stool.
Do not exceed 8 tablets/capsules daily (16mg)
ORAL REHYDRATION SALTS (Prevention or Treatment of Dehydration)
BRAND: Pedialyte, Vivalyte, Hydrite
ADMINITRATION: 1 sachet, mixed in 200mL of water to be taken as tolerated. Remind patient that solution expires after 24hours
Antimotility
drugs used to alleviate the symptoms of diarrhea.
Antipyretic
used to bring down the body temperature to normal level in case of a fever.
Analgesic
used to reduce pain. Paracetamol acts as both to a certain extent.
Antihistamine
used to relieve symptoms of allergies, such as hay fever, hives, conjunctivitis and reactions to insect bites or stings.
Decongestant
help ease the symptoms of conditions such as colds and flu, hay fever and other allergic reactions, catarrh and sinusitis.
Expectorant
used to help clear mucus (phlegm) from your airway.
NSAIDs
used to manage the pain and inflammation associated with arthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders.
