Q

What’s the difference between DR and ER formulations?

A

DR means delayed release. If a medication can upset the stomach or is destroyed by stomach acid, it can be formulated to pass through the stomach before being released and absorbed into the bloodstream.

ER means extended release. This allows the medication to be released over long period of time, usually 12 to 24 hours.
