Hepatitis
Transmitted by urine, feces, or saliva of infected animals.
Fever, tissue swelling, hemorrhage.
Blood transfusion and intensive care. Both are often not successful.
Distemper
Airborne virus.
Runny eyes and nose, fever, cough, diarrhea.
No treatment.
Leptospirosis
Bacteria spread through nasal secretions, urine, or saliva of infected animals.
Fever, diarrhea, vomiting, jaundice.
Antibiotics, intensive care, and IV fluid therapy
Kennel cough
Several viruses and bacteria.
Chronic, dry hacking cough.
Treatment can be helpful
Parvo
Contact with fecal matter of infected animals.
Fever, lathargy, vomiting.
IV fluid, supportive therapy, varied success rate.
Corona
Similar to Parvo. Generally milder, more effectively treated.
Rabies
Bite of an infected animal.
Brain infection.
No treatment
Tapeworms
Ingesting of a larval stage of the worm found in flees or raw meat.
Special dewormers needed for treatment.
Round worms
Ingestion of feces, or contaminated soil that contains worm eggs.
Treatment should be monitored and repeated.
Ascarids
Found in feces.
Stunted growth, lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, pot-bellied appearance.
Hook worms
Utero and via mothers milk.
Lethargy, stunted growth, anemia, dark terry feces.
Blood transfusions.
