What causes TB (Tuberculosis)?
TB (Tuberculosis) is caused by a bacterium that needs oxygen to grow. It grows in the parts of the body where there is lots of oxygen, for example the brain and lungs.
What symptoms does TB (Tuberculosis) have?
TB (Tuberculosis) has the following symptoms:
- Tiredness
- Weight loss
- Bad cough that doesn’t want to go away
What causes diabetes?
Diabetes is a condition that causes the body to not produce enough of the hormone insulin. Insulin is needed to take up the glucose in our bloodstream, which we get from the food we eat. There are 2 types of diabetes: Type 1 and 2.
What causes epilepsy?
Epilepsy is caused by abnormal electric impulses in the brain, resulting in seizures.
What causes obesity?
Obesity is a condition in which the person has a very high amount of body fat. Obese people are at high risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.
What causes anorexia?
Anorexia is an eating disorder that is mainly found in adolescent girls who become overly concerned with their body image and weight. It may be caused by biological factors, genetics, emotional and personality disorders or cultural and family pressure.
What causes HIV and Aids?
HIV affects the normal functioning of the immune system. About half of people with HIV develop Aids within 10 years if they aren’t treated. When people have Aids, they can more easily catch a disease in their environment because of their weakened immune system.
How can TB (Tuberculosis) be treated?
- With medicine. If a patient takes this medicine exactly as prescribed, he/she can be cured within 6 months.
How can diabetes be treated?
- A carefully controlled diet, daily insulin injections and blood glucose tests every day.
- A doctor must prescribe medicine.
How can epilepsy be treated?
- With medicine.
- When the person is having a seizure, help them lie on his/her side and make him/her comfortable.
- Take away any sharp objects that could hurt the person.
How can obesity be treated?
- Go to a clinic.
- Test to make sure that obesity did not harm the body.
How can HIV and Aids be treated?
- Go for a blood test.
How can a person cope with having TB (Tuberculosis)?
- Can live a normal lifestyle once started treatment.
- Need to maintain a healthy lifestyle, with a balanced diet, lots of rest and a bit of daily exercise.
How can a person cope with having diabetes?
- Healthy lifestyle
- Regularly test blood and eyes
- Only eat food that doesn’t contain too much sugar, salt or fat.
- Regular exercise (at least 30 mins).
How can a person cope with having epilepsy?
- Have right medication
- Make sure other people know that he/she is suffering from epilepsy
