Q

Discuss purpose of MOPP

A

Mission Oriented Protective Posture MOPP balances protection requirements and performance degradation with mission requirements. Commander has responsibility for providing guidance for the levels of protection. The higher the MOPP level, the more protection it provides, but the more it degrades performance.

A

Chemical, Biological, Radiological

18
Q

Describe the colors and marking on NATO CBR marker signs

A

yellow with red is chemical, blue with red is biological, white with black is radiological.

19
Q

A

Immediate, operational, thorough

20
Q

Discuss steps and equipment for troop decon

A

Station 1- individual gear decon. containers, brushes, ICAM, M8 paper, M256, Trash bags
2-overboots and hood decon. Cutting tool, trash bags, IDEK, shovel, drums of STB
3- Overgarment removal. containers, trashbags, SDKs

7-mask decontamination point. Containers, ICAM, trash bags, sponges, soapy water.
8-reissue point. Mask PLL

21
Q

Discuss characteristics of M291

A

Non toxic skin decontamination kit. Decon pads are impregnated with the decontamination compound Ambergard XE555 Resin, a black, freeflowing, resinbased powder.

22
Q

Discuss characteristics of M295

A

Equipment decontamination kit. consists of a carrying pouch which contains 4 sealed softpack packets (enough to do 2 complete individual equipment decontamination operations). Each packet contains powder for decontamination and utilizes the same powder as the M100 SDS System.

23
Q

Discuss the purpose and use of the m100 sorbent decon kit

A

Sorbent decon kit. uses powdered sorbent to remove chemical agents from surfaces. nontoxic and noncorrosive, and it requires no water to complete its mission. designed to operate at temps between -25 and 120 F.

24
Q

Discuss unmasking procedures after a CBR attack

A

When a detector kit is available use the M8A1 or M22 automatic chemical agent detector alarm (ACADA). When not available personnel removing mask stand downwind of decontamination station personnel.

25
Q

Discuss nerve agents symptoms

A

Nerve agents: constriction of pupils, increased saliva, running nose, sweating, urination, defecation, bronchosecretion, bronchoconstriction, decreased heart rate and blood pressure, muscular twitches and cramps, cardiac arrhythmia, tremors and convulsions. The most critical effects are paralysis of the respiratory muscles and inhibition of the respiratory tract.

26
Q

Discuss blood agents symptoms

A

prevents normal utilization of oxygen by body tissues

27
Q

Discuss blistering agents

A

produce skin injuries resembling those caused by burns. affect upper resp. tract if inhaled and lungs producing pulmonary edema. Can also cause eye injuries.

28
Q

Discuss Nuclear attack

A

effective use of terrain and shelter is important. Attack can create EMP effects.

29
Q

Discuss Biological attack

A

enter through skin, resp, and digestive. prevent by personal health maintenance followed by NBC defensive training, which all personnel must master.

30
Q

Discuss Chemical attack

A

can enter body through skin, eyes, ingestion, and respiratory tract. Units prepare SOPs that specify defense techniques and procedures.

31
Q

Discuss conditions that will affect NBC defense operations

A

Land and sea breezes which concern offshore CB agent threat.

32
Q

Discuss MOPP differences afloat and ashore

A

afloat personnel do not don attire until MOPP 3.

33
Q

Discuss first large scale use of chemical weapons in war

A

Second battle of Ypres WW1
