What is ‘conduct disorder’?
This is a disorder of behaviour that is characterised by repetitive and persistent patterns of dissocial, aggressive or defiant conduct
How may conduct disorder present in a child under 5?
Physical and verbal aggression, destructiveness, poor attention and concentration and frequent, severe tantrums
How may conduct disorder present in a child aged 5-12?
Lying, stealing, defiance, school disruption, animal cruelty, fire setting and solvent abuse
How may conduct disorder present in those older than 12?
Truancy, delinquency, violence, sex offences and substance abuse
What are ‘adjustment disorders’?
This is a distress and emotional disturbance that arises in a period of adaptation to a significant life change to the consequence of a stressful life event e.g. divorce, physical illness or bereavement
