What do you look for in an oral-facial exam?

A
  • abnormal color of tongue, palate or pharynx
  • abnormal height and width of palatal arch
  • asymmetry of face/palate
  • deviation of tongue or uvula to left or right
  • enlarged tonsils
  • missing teeth
  • mouth breathing
  • poor pressure
  • prominent rugae
  • short lingual frenulum
  • weak or absent gag reflex
  • weakness of lips, tongue or jaw
  • spots possibly cancerous
