What does the term, “SPORT” stand for?

A

S- Specificity: doing the correct training for your certain sport.
P- Progression: Progressing and adding in harder training regimes later into the programme.
O- Overload: Body will not adapt unless pushed. Maybe once every week have an overload session to push the body as far as possible for fastest muscle and cardio development.
R- Reversibility: If body does not train in a while then all the adaptations and progression will soon deteriorate and loose everything you have done.
T- Tedium: Doing the same exercise over and over again will soon bore the person doing them and the body will also get used to that certain activity leading to no progression.

A

F- Frequency: How often the person should train per week or month.
I- Intensity: How hard the sessions should be. They should also up the intensity every session by just a bit.
T- Time: How long each session should last and how long the regime should go on for.
T- Type: Which methods of training to use.

A

Sponsorship: Pays media for ads so more people will buy or recognise them. Pays sport teams to sponsor them. Increasing teams money and therefore allowing them to get better making for a more interesting season.
Sport: Uses media to gain more spectators
Media: Shows sports on subscription channels for money.

A

Media informs the companies which teams are doing well in each season through stats ad who will be the dark horse in the next season. Allowing companies to make informed decisions about who to sponsor. It also helps sponsorship deals and in turn helps companies get more customers.

A

Financial- Helps team’s or sport with keeping out of debt. Usually spoken highly of by the team in return.
Clothing and kit- companies buy clothing and kit for the team so they can be branded on the teams new kit.
Facilities- The big companies usually pay for new stadiums such as, “Etihad Stadium”, the stadium of Manchester City

Power- Test: Standing/vertical jump test. Def. “The ability to perform a strength movement quickly”.
Reaction time- Test: The ruler drop test. Def. “the time taken to respond to a stimulus”.
Flexibility- Test: Sit and reach test. Def. “The range of movement at a joint”.

What is interval training?

A

“Training that includes periods of rest”.
Is anaerobic.
Rest allows recovery from high build up of lactic acid.
Circuit training is interval training. Rest in-between stations.
HIIT. High Intensity Interval Training.
Advantages: Easy to set up. Can be both aerobic anaerobic in certain activities.
Disadvantages: Can get boring. Easy to give up once you have rested.

What is Fartlek training?

A

“Training that includes short bursts of high intensity efforts followed by low intensity. No rest”.
Can be both aerobic and anaerobic
Improves; Power, acceleration and CV/Muscular endurance.
Improves recovery rate
Improves speed endurance.
Advantages: Good for sports which require changes in speed.
Easily adaptable to suit people of different fitness levels.
Disadvantages: Easy to not try in the harder sections
Difficult to know if someone is trying there best during high intensity parts.

What is continuous training?

A

“Training that is non-stop. No rests”.
Involves regular steady pace. Has to last for 30mins or more.
Increases: muscular/CV endurance, and stroke volume.
Advantages: Good for long distance endurance sports. Needs a small amount of equipment.
Good for CV/Muscular endurance.
Disadvantages: Gets boring. Doesn’t help with anaerobic fitness.
