What is commemoration?
Is the acknowledgement and understanding historical events whilst reflecting upon events within a community.
What is a celebration?
A common gathering of people to embrace a day.
What is a narrative history? and its downsides?
Tells the story of events relying on chronology to show historical events
However they can divert to focus on broader trends
What is biography history? and it’s downsides?
Examines history through the lens of a particular person/group’s life. it gives insight into history times and their life
Becomes bias and only demonstrates onside of a perspective.
What is social history?
Gives a stronger focus to the experiences of the broader population creating a ‘history from below’
What is cultural history? and it’s downsides?
Combines elements of social history, intellectual history and anthropology to develop a new way of investigating the past.
Differing opinions on different cultural events/times
What is Public History?
History that both informs and purposefully connects people and is constantly created and shaped using different view points.
