Commercial Pilot limitations
Cannot act as a commercial operator; operate under a business’s carrier license
If not instrument rated:
limited to cross country of 50 NM or less
Cannot carry passengers for hire at night
Common Carriage
Carriage of persons or property as a result of advertising the availability of the carriage to the public
Services become common carriage when the hold themselves out to the public to anyone who wants it
Can be: Holding out, transport persons or property, from place to place, or for compensation
Holding out
Offering carriage of persons or property to the public for hire
Can be done via signs and advertising, agents, agencies, or salesman, word of mouth
Private Carriage
Carriage for hire not involving holding out
Usually for one or few select customers on long term basis

Commercial pilot requirements for different flights
Valid pilot certification, Photo ID, current and appropriate medical certificate.
High Performance
Above 200 horsepower
Logged ground/ flight training/ found proficient in the airplane, and received appropriate endorsement
Pressurized Cabin
Service Ceiling or Max operating altitude above 25000 MSL
Logged ground/flight training in a pressurized cabin which includes high altitude aerodynamics, hypoxia, meteorology, respiration, and received the proper logbook endorsement
Tailwheel
Logged ground/ flight training from an authorized instructor/ found proficient in the airplane, and received appropriate endorsement
Currency Requirements
Accomplished a flight review with instructor within preceding 24 calendar months
To carry passengers, within preceding 90 days , 3 take-offs and landing in same category, class, and type (if required)
Tailwheel currency must be to a full stop
Night currency must be 1 hour after sunset and 1 hour before sunrise to a full stop
Medical certificates
Second class medical required to act as PIC Second class medical expires a the end of the last day of the 12th month after date of examination
