come usare il verbo piacere Flashcards
Piacere does not work like other verbs. (subject → verb → object).
Instead of saying: I like Pizza.
In Italian we say: Pizza is pleasing to me…
or even better: To me pizza is pleasing
How would you say this in Italian?
Mi piace la pizza
Piacere is used essentially in two forms, one for singular and one for plural.
- singular (when what we like a singular noun): Piace
- plural (when what we like is a plural noun): Piaccono
How would you say:

Piacere uses Indirect Object pronouns which precede the conjugated verb.
They are:
- Mi (to me)
- Ti (to you)
- Le (to her, to you formal)
- Gli (to him)
- Ci (to us)
- Vi (to you plural)
- Gli (to them)
Make some examples using the pronouns to say …. likes tomato / tomato’s.

If there is a preposition, instead of the Indirect Object pronouns (mi, ti, etc), we use Pronomi Tonici (pronouns we use after a preposition).
They are:
Me (me)
Te (you)
Lei (her, you formal)
Lui (him)
Noi (us)
Voi (you plural)
Loro (them)
Per essempio:
Vado al supermercato con te → I go to the supermarket with you
C’e un tavolo tra me e te → There is a table between me and you
When there is a name involved or you want to add contrast, we replace the pronoun with the preposition A.
