Q

What are the effects of incomplete combustion

A

CO and soot produced.
CO - kills people because it’s toxic
Soot - causes global dimming and breathing problems

Q

What is a catalytic converter?

A

A part in a car’s exhaust that is designed to reduced pollutants caused by burning fuels. Used to remove toxic gases NO & CO that are produced when the fuel burns in the engines

Q

How does a catalytic converter work?

A

It is mounted on a ceramic honeycomb so greater surface area = faster rate of reaction =more gases are removed.

Range of metals used at catalyst (e.g Pt/Pd/Rh/Ir/
