CE What tasks do you do?
- Enable and disable both friendly and enemy movement to, from and across the battlefield
- Using a maintaining power tools and boats
- Producing potable water
- Construction and demolition tasks (bridges, buildings etc)
- Field defences such as barbed wire and mines
CE What can you specialise as?
Plant operator or architechtural draftsman
CE What is role in larger traning exercises?
- Support you team
- Provide engineering expertise
- Rebuild or repair buildings on humanitarian operations both domestic and abroad
CE What does parade night look like?
- Refine skills
- Plan ahead for exercises
- Keep up soldier training
CE What is the pay?
$154 while training
$201 once trained
CE Where can you be based?
Karrakatta (Irwin Barracks)
CE How many days do you serve?
First year 35-70 (training included)
Additional years 20-70
CE What is your training?
Recruit Training
3 weeks at Kapooka completing module A of army recruit training
- Weapon handling, drill, first aid, PT and field craft
Done within 6 months of sign up
Part Time Military Engineer Training
16 days at Irwin Barracks
- RAE background information, white card, working at heights, chainsaw operator, misc tools and CBRN defence
Part Time Combat Engineer Training
16 days at Irwin Barracks
- ADF Explosive User, Explosive Demolitions and Breaching, Light Urban Explosive Breaching and Engineer Search
