Colors Flashcards
What are primary colors?
Red, Blue, and Yellow
What are secondary colors?
Green, orange, and purple
What are tertiary colors?
Yellow-orange, red-orange, red-purple, blue-purple, yellow-green
What does Lab mean?
It expresses color. Delta L means too light (100) or too dark (0). Delta A means too green (-) or too red (+). Delta B means too blue (-) or yellow (+).
What is Delta E?
Delta E is a measure of how far a displayed color is different from its input color. We want Delta E to be as close to 0 as possible this indicates a greater accuracy.
What is metamerism?
Same colored objects that appear identical in one light source but vary in another light source.
Why does metamerism happens?
The way the object reflects light gives us the perception of color.
What is inorganic pigments?
Pigments with no carbon chains and rings but consist of metals and metallic salts.
Are pigments soluble?
No, they are insoluble
What does pigment need in an ink base?
Dispersing additives like Disperbyk 110
What is agglomerate?
When the pigment starts to group into a mass object because of low cohesive force and low energy state.
What is flocculate?
An ink is undispersed and appears weak in color strength.
What is a wetting agent?
A surface active molecule is used to reduce surface tension.
What is a cohesive force?
Intermolecular force that binds to similar molecules.
What are inorganic pigments examples?
Titanium Dioxide (white)
Prussian blue
Cadmium (range of yellow and reds)
Chromium(range of yellow, orange and green)
Iron oxide earth pigments ( sienna, yellow ochre)
