risk factors for colorectal cancer?
old age, IBD, family history, familial adenomatous polyposis, HNCC (lynch syndrome), smoking, alcohol, obesity
symptoms with regard to location?
constitutional: fever, night sweats, weight loss, fatigue
-right sided (cecum, ascending, transverse): melena, anemia, diarrhea
-left sided (descending, sigmoid) have smaller lumen and stool is hard so present with obstructive symptoms: decrease stool caliber, constipation, colicky abdomen pain in LLQ from obstruction
it’s mimicking diverticulitis
rectal: hematochezia, low stool caliber
diagnosis? finding in barium enema?
DRE: blood/mass
colonoscopy with biopsy and 12 LN biopsies at least
barium enema shows apple core
CT abdomen, pelvis, chest for metastasis
