What is color correction?
The process of making the image appear as it did on set (objective).
What is color grading?
The process of giving the image a creative look (subjective).
What is a primary correction?
A correction that affects the entire image (global).
If you add two complementary colors together what color do you get?
A perfect neutral.
Where do complementary colors lie on the color wheel?
Directly opposite from one another.
What is a secondary correction?
A targeted correction that affects only part of the image.
If you want to remove red from a shot which hue do you need to add?
Cyan, the complementary color of red
What do the scopes do?
They analyze color and tone within an image.
If you want to remove magenta from a shot which hue do you need to add?
Green, the complementary color of magenta
Why do we need to use scopes and not just our eyes?
Our eyes are adaptive to color and susceptible to cone fatigue. We use the scopes in conjunction with our eyes to make more accurate decisions.
Is a shade of gray absolute in its appearance to human vision?
No. It is influenced by surrounding tones and colors and can appear wildly different under certain circumstances.

What does graticule mean?
It is the information overlay on the scopes.

This is the broadcast safe line.

It is the brightest part of your image.
