Accidental color
Phantom or ghost image of a complementary color after looking at a highly saturated color for a long period of time
Advancing color
Warm color that appears to advance or lie in front of the picture plane
Retreating color
Often a cool color (or any color) that appears to recede from the picture plane
Optical mixing
Two adjacent colors seen at a distance are mixed by the eye to form another color
