Collision theory Flashcards
1
Q
Collision theory summary…
A
particles move. for a reaction to take place, the particles must collide (bump into eachother) with enough energy. the minimum energy needed for a reaction is called the ACTIVATION ENERGY
2
Q
Reaction rate
A
The speed in which a chemical reaction can take place
3
Q
What are the different factors of reaction rates?
A
- temperature
- surface area
- concentration
- catalysts
4
Q
What do catalysts do in reaction rates
A
A catalyst works by lowering the amount of energy needed to start the reaction. They lower the ACTIVATION ENERGY!
