What is Point of view/ or claim?
In a argument a claim is the Writers position on a issue or problem.
Ex: First person- narrator is witnessing and interacting with the event and other characters first hand.
What is Mood?
The feeling or atmosphere that a writer creates for the reader.
Ex: descriptive words, imagery and figurative language contributes to the mood of a work.
What is Foreshadowing?
Writers use of hint or clues to suggest events that will occur later in the story.
Ex: The hints/clues may be included in the characters dialogue or details of description
What is a Extended Metaphor?
A figure of speech that compares 2 essentaily unlike things at some length and in several ways.
Ex: Does NOT contain like or as
What is Pace?
Speed of story
Ex:Length of a scene and the speed at which the writer distributes information.
What is authors tone?
The author’s attitude for his//hers subject
Ex: amused,angry,chatty,humble,encouraging
What is Irony (verbal and situational)?
Verbal: exists when someone knowingly or says one thing and means another
Ex:”the building has festive air on the outside” when what they did inside was the opposite
Situational: A contrast between what a reader or character expects and what actually exists or happens
Ex: getting yourself fired/killed
