Agreements and disagreements at yalta conference and date
Agreed: split germany, split Berlin, free elections in eastern european countries, USSR join war against japan.
Disagreements: stalin wanted to push boundaries of Poland into Germany. Churchill and Roosevelt didn’t like this.

Agreed: trial of nazi leaders, boundaries of Poland agreed
Disagreements: stalin not to have a bas in Mediterranean, Stalin wanted more repressions from Germany, and Truman and Attlee suspicious about Stalin.

Its where Stalin waned friendly states and him so that they wouldn’t invade him again.
What was the iron curtain? date?
1946, Churchill described the difference between the west and east as an iron curtain had been dropped. Meaning that the west were capitalist and the east were communist.
Explain Cominform and date?
An alliance of the countries.
It was when stalin wanted to build a good relationship with the countries that were around him so that they would not invade him again. SO stalin could restrict their contact with the west.

Stalin could co-ordinate the production and trade of the eastern european countries. 1949
Truman doctrine, date and explain?
1947, truman wanted to stop the spread of communism and he though that the USA should provide aid to anyone who was threatened by communism.
Marshall plan, date and explain?
1947, truman believed that poverty caused communism. and therefore he decided to give eEurope billions of dollars to stop the spread of communism. 16 countries agreed (west), and the east rejected the offer.
Berlin Blockade- explain why it happened?
It happened because the soviets didn’t like the fact that the USA, Britain and France had joined to form west Germany.
Berlin Blockade- Explain, dates etc
June 1948 - stalin blocked roads and railways and cut off all supplies
So the allies flew all aid in, Berlin airlift
Stalin saw this and gave up the blockade and re-opened roads etc.
Why was the the Berlin blockade a success for USA, Britain and France?
they stopped the spread of communism throughout the west of Germany
What was NATO, explain and date?
1949, The north atlantic treaty organisation, which made everyone allies in the west of Europe meaning that they would always support, and back each other up.
What was the Warsaw pact and explain?
It was what stalin set up in 1955, and it was the communist version of NATO. SO the communist countries supported each other.
