Why was the Vietnam war so significant in the Cold War?
- showed the passion of the USA

Why were the Americans surprised by the Vietnamese?
Through the use of guerrilla tactics.
What were some of the guerrilla tactics?
The Vietnamese:
- set up paths through the jungle that the US wouldn’t know about
- flanking tactics
- booby traps
Why were the public against the war?
- believed that what America were doing to the civilians was wrong
- believed that affairs they had currently in the US were more important
- way too much money going into the war
What was the time period between the Vietnam war?
1955-75
Why were the US and the USSR competing for power in arms and space?
In retaliation to the atom bomb the ussr created the tsara bomba which was an even greater nuke than that of little boy or fat man. Militarily countries were greatly developing in technology, and people then believed we could make it to space
Why were the hydrogen bombs created in 1952 never used?
- it was 1000 times stronger than the atom bomb
- very expensive
- people knew the consequences
By the 1960’s who was winning the space race?
The USSR. They had sent the first satellite into space and created the most powerful atom bomb of all time.
After Yuri Gagarin was sent to space in 1961, why did America feel the need to launch Apollo?
The USA were bombarded with soviet propaganda saying how much they were losing in the battle of space domination and in weaponry.
Who do historians mostly believe won the space race and how?
The USA. They had sent the first man to the moon, they developed being able to fire nukes from vehicles. The USA in arms were also dominant and the two powers agree to stop mass producing nukes like they did at the time, 1969
