Describe the features of the Truman Doctrine
A
US President Harry Truman gave a speech to Congress in March 1947. Truman hated communism and sent a clear message that communist expansion in Europe had to end.
Truman stated:
- Communism poses a real threat to the whole world, and the USA would work to stop communism from spreading.
- The USA would support and country under the threat of becoming communist
- Communism had to be ‘contained’
