What is a Cold War?
A Cold War is when two enemies don’t actually fight each other. Instead they build military and armed forces to intimidate each other.

The U.S. and the Soviet Union(U.S.S.R)
How was the relationship between the U.S and Soviet Union during WW2 and after?
During the WW2, both the U.S and the Soviet Union were allies. Then after WW2 Europe and other colonial empires were crumbling. This caused the U.S and the Soviet Union to be very competitive.
What was the U.S’s goal for the world
To stop the spreading of communism and spread democracy and capitalism
What was the Soviet Union’s goal for the world
Spread communism
Explain Truman Doctrine
It was 400 million dollars given to Turkey and Greece so they wouldn’t be taken over by communist rebels
Explain Marshall Plan
It was 12 billion dollars given to the Western European countries so they could rebuild after WW2. Now they won’t have to turn to the Soviet Union for money
Explain Warsaw Pact
A military alliance in Eastern European countries, includes Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Soviet Union. Was created in 1955
Explain NATO
It was the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It’s a military alliance of European and North American democracies founded after WW2 to strengthen international ties and to be a counter balance to the Soviet Union and The Warsaw Pact
