Created to counter NATO in Eastern Europe
What was the Marshal Plan?
Created by George Marshall, it was a plan to give aid to European countries to stay democratic.
What was the Berlin Airlift?
In 1948, Stalin blocked Berlin from Western powers
What was Truman’s response to the Berlin Airlift?
Sent supplies to Berlin for over a year and threatened to use nuclear weapons if the planes were destroyed.
What was the GI Bill?
Returning soldiers were given money for College or to start a business/buy a home
What is a blue collar job?
A lower class job
What is a white collar job?
A higher class job
What was the baby boom?
25 million babies born between 1945-1952
What is the UN?
A group of nations to maintain peace between countries
Why did the UN replace the League of Nations?
The League of Nations had no standing army
