14 may 1955, it is a direct retaliation to the inclusion of west germany in NATO on 6 may, it is a defence pact for eastern europe communist states to essentially protect USSR

When did the gulf of tonkin incident happen
August 2 1964, where a north vietnamese naval vessels attack the USS maddox. On august 4, a second north vietnamese vessel allegedly attacked the USS Maddox again, granting President Lyndon B. Johnson broad powers to escalate military involvement in Vietnam.

March 2 1965, it was a sustained period of aerial bombing over north vietnam by the USA which lasted for 3 years.
