Q

What are brain scans used for?

A

There are used in order to identify which areas of the brain are responsible for specific internal mental processes e.g the importance of the hippocampus in the memory system - increasing the overall internal val

Q

Why does it lack mundane realism?

A

As individuals are required to visualise a task (artificial) whilst receiving the brain scan such as riding a bike to identify the role of the more cortex and cerebellum in procedural memory

Q

What does lacking mundane realism not represent?

A

It may not represent the way the internal mental processes function in everyday life, so more research is needed before firm conclusions are possible on cognitive neuroscience

Q

Why does it have practical applications?

A

It is based on the principle that there are physical differences between people who have an abnormality and people who do not - this head lead to a fuller understanding of the role of the parahippocampal gyrus as a neural component of OCD na dhow they brain can learn new info - impact on treatments and educational intervention
