Object permanence is emerging and infant anticipates spoon or bottle

Attends to effect produced by actions, such as hitting or shaking

Recognizes that objects have function and uses tools appropriately; relates objects together, shifting attention among them
12 - 14 months
Expresses wants verbally; demonstrates imitation of short sequence of occupation (e.g. putting food on plate and eating it)
24 - 30 months
Experiements to learn rules of how objects work; actively solves problems by creating new action solutions
15 - 18 months
