Requests for mutual response may be made by _________________________, ___________________, or _____________________
telephone, radio, or via computer network.
Four basic types of equipment can be utilized to achieve communications interoperability:
Shared Systems: The use of a single radio system infrastructure to provide service to most public safety agencies within a region. Nearly all COG Fire and Rescue Departments “share systems” for daily emergency operations.
Shared Channels: Common channels that have been established and are programmed into radios to provide interoperable communications among agencies. They are always available because they are included and always operational in each piece of apparatus within a region.
Gateways: These systems interconnect channels of different systems, allowing first responders to utilize their existing radios and channels to be interconnected with the channels of other users outside of their agency.
Cache Radios: A cache of standby radios that can be deployed to support regional incidents.
___________________________________ channels are intended as a method of establishing common channel tactical communications for public safety agencies that may not share common talk-groups with another jurisdiction and do not have access to NPSPAC channels for communications with a potential mutual aid partner.
