What are the steps in making a coffee. Starting with grinding the beans, ending with
pouring the milk to finish the coffee for service?

A

Fill the portafilter basket with ground coffee from the grinder.
Tap the basket and tap again to level off.
Level off the coffee, and tamp the coffee with 15 kg of pressure.
Wipe of any grinds
Insert the portafilter into the group head of the espresso machine. Place a cup under the portafilter to catch the coffee.
Press the single shot button to pour 30ml of coffee into the cup.
Froth the milk

Espresso- a single shot (30ml) with 5-10mm of golden crema on top in a glass.
Cappuccino- A single shot (30-50ml), 1/3 milk, 1/3 foam with a sprinkle of chocolate. In a cup.
Caffe latte- a double or single shot (30-50ml), steamed milk? and 10mm foam, sprinkle of chocolate, in a cup.
Long black- fill 2/3 with hot water and a double shot (60ml) . In a cup or glass.
Flat white. A single shot (30ml) to 1/3 of a cup then filled with hot milk in a cup.

A

You fill the jug up to the tip of the jug mouth, the steam tip should be placed just below the surface of the milk, angle the jug as you are stretching the milk to create a whirl pool. The temperature of the steamed milk should be about 65 oc.
