Q

Describe the course of the Left Gastric Artery.

A

Ascends the diaphragm and divides into the oesophageal branches before continuing anteriorly along the lesser curvature of the stomach and anastomosing with the right gastric artery.

Q

Describe the pathway of the Splenic artery.

A

Arises inferior to the left gastric artery. Moves left towards the spleen, posterior to the stomach and along the superior margin of the pancreas. It is obtained within the splenorenal ligament and terminates into 5 tortuous branches.

Q

Describe the path of the Common Hepatic Artery.

16
Q

What does the Cystic Artery (branch of the proper hepatic artery) supply?

A

Supply the gallbladder.

17
Q

Name the branches of the Gastroduodenal Artery (branch of the Proper Hepatic Artery).

A
  1. Right Gastroepiploic Artery.

2. Superior Pancreaticoduodenal Artery.

18
Q

What does the Right Gastroepiploic Artery (branch of the Gastroduodenal branch) supply?

A

Greater curvature of the stomach, found in the greater omentum.

19
Q

What does the Superior Pancreaticoduodenal Artery (branch of Gastroduodenal artery) supply?

A

Head of pancreas (anterior and posterior).

20
Q

What is the blood supply to the stomach?

A

Supplied by all 3 branches of the coeliac trunk through a system of anastomoses along the greater (Gastroepiploic and right hepatic and left splenic) and lesser (gastric arteries) curvatures.

21
Q

What is the blood supply to the pancreas?

A

Pancreaticoduodenal Arcuade- a network of arteries that surround the head. Superior Pancreaticoduodenal Artery comes from the Gastroduodenal artery of the Proper Hepatic Artery and the Inferior comes from the Superior Mesenteric Artery.

22
Q

What is the difference in origins of the left and right Gastroepiploic arteries?

A

Left arises from the splenic artery and right arises from the common hepatic artery via the Gastroduodenal artery.

23
Q

What is the difference in origins of the Left and Right Gastric Arteries?

A

Left Gastric artery arises directly from the coeliac trunk and the right gastric artery arises from the common hepatic artery via the proper hepatic artery.
