Coeliac Trunk Flashcards
What are the 3 main branches of the Coeliac Trunk?
- Left Gastric Artery.
- Splenic Artery.
- Common Hepatic Artery.
What does the Left Gastric Artery Supply?
Oesophagus and Lesser Curvature of the stomach.
Where does the Coeliac Trunk arise?
Anterior aspect of the aorta at the aortic hiatus of the diaphragm at T12. Divide 1cm before dividing into 3.
Describe the course of the Left Gastric Artery.
Ascends the diaphragm and divides into the oesophageal branches before continuing anteriorly along the lesser curvature of the stomach and anastomosing with the right gastric artery.
Describe the pathway of the Splenic artery.
Arises inferior to the left gastric artery. Moves left towards the spleen, posterior to the stomach and along the superior margin of the pancreas. It is obtained within the splenorenal ligament and terminates into 5 tortuous branches.
What are the branches of the Splenic Artery?
- Spleen.
- Left Gastroepiploic Artery.
- Short Gastric Artery.
- Pancreatic Branches.
What does the Left Gastroepiploic artery (division of the splenic artery) supply?
Greater curvatures of the stomach.
Which artery does the Left Gastroepiploic Anastomose?
Right Gastroepiploic Artery.
What does the Short Gastric Arteries (branch of the splenic artery) supply?
Fundus of the stomach.
What does the pancreatic branches of the splenic artery supply?
Body and tail of the pancreas.
Describe the path of the Common Hepatic Artery.
Passes to the right, past the superior aspect of the duodenum where it divides into 2 branches: Proper hepatic and Gastroduodenal arteries.
What are the 2 main branches of the common hepatic artery?
- Proper Hepatic Artery.
2. Gastroduodenal Artery.
Name the branches of the Proper Hepatic Artery.
- Right Gastric Artery.
- Right and Left Hepatic Artery.
- Cystic Artery.
What does the Right Gastric Artery (branch of the proper hepatic artery) supply?
Lesser curvature of the stomach.
What does the Left and Right Hepatic Artery (branch of the proper hepatic artery) supply?
Supply respective lobes of the liver.
