UKMEC 2: advantages generally outweigh the disadvantages
UKMEC 3: disadvantages generally outweigh the advantages
UKMEC 4: represents an unacceptable health risk
Smoking (increased risk of CV disease)
2: age < 35 years
3: age > 35 years and smoking < 15 cigarettes / day
4: age > 35 and smoking > 15 cigarettes / day
Obesity (increased risk of VTE)
2: BMI 30-34
3: BMI >= 35
Migraine
4: migraine with aura
3: migraine without aura (continues prescribing):
2: migraine without aura (initial prescribing)
(progesterone only are all 2)
Epilepsy
Phenytoin, carbamazepine, barbiturates, primidone, topiramate, oxcarbazepine -

* If the COCP is chosen it should contain a minimum 30 micrograms of ethinylestradiol
