cobas4000 Flashcards
What are the elements of the cobas4000 system?
c311 clinical chemistry module e411 immunoassay module, which comes in a rack or disk version
Is the cobas4000 system connected or modular?
The two systems are not connected together.
The c311 stays where it is installed.
The e411 disk system stays where it is installed.
The e411 rack system can be benchtop.
What size of customer is the cobas4000 appropriate for, and what volumes?
Low volume customer
<500,000 tests per year
or
50-200samples per day
How could the cobas4000 system be used?
Primary system for physician office labs or low volume testing needs
Backup system for the cobas6000 system
Niche place, ent for STAT or specialized testing:
c311: HbA1c, DAT, TDM
e411: cardiac, fertility, ioPTH
What reagent packs are used for the cobas4000 system?
The c311 uses the cobas cpacks
50-800 tests per pack
98% Ready to use
Onboard stability of 67 days
The e411 uses the cobas epacks
100 or 200 tests per pack
Ready to use
Onboard stability of 47 days
Describe cobas epacks
100 or 200 packs
Onboard stability of 47 days
Calibration frequency once per lot

How many reagent channels are on the cobas c311?
42 reagent channels and 3 ISEs
How many reagent channels are on the e411?
18 reagent channels
What are the areas of the cobas c311.
Sample area
- sample probe has abnormal descent, clot detection and liquid level detection
Reaction area
- ultrasonic mixing minimizes cross contamination
Reagent compartment
Control unit
What are the components of the e411 system?
Sample area
- liquid level and clot detection
Reagent compartment
Reaction area
- ECL technology
- disposable tips and cups minimize carryover
Control unit
What are the TATs for the cobas4000 system?
3-10 minute durations on the clinical chemistry side
Immunoassay side:
Most are finished in 18 minutes, with a handful of 27 minute assays. Additionally we have 7 STAT assays that are finished in 9 minutes, including STAT PTH, STAT HCG and STAT Cardiac
Explain ECL technology
This proprietary method to Roche is a way of keeping the light on longer throughout the reaction. This allows for a more stable and wide measuring range, increased sensitivity due to the constant signal, and accurate detection of the targeted antibodies or antigens being measured.
This technology also allows for a smaller sample size which leads to fewer redraws and increased patient convenience.
What are the three ISEs?
Sodium
Potassium
Chloride
What is cobas link?
This is a way for support to dial in and assist with troubleshooting
