Q

explain hydraulic action

A

the force of waves hitting against cliffs/shores. The waves flow into cracks, compresses, blows the rocks apart

Q

process of wavecut platforms

A

the ocean/sea attacks the cliff through H.A and abrasion. softer material like clay is eroded under headland rock - creating a wavecut notch. Headland rock forms as the cliff retreats, this proccess repeats. Cliff colappses as there is no support underneath

Q

headland and bay formation

A

cliffs called discordant coastlines start eroding. the softer rock like clay erodes and the limestone stays. the erosion happenes throufh hydrolic action. the softer rock erodes inlan leaving the band of resistent rock standing. A bay forms often with a beach

15
Q

how do sea arches/ stacks form

A

when the headland bay erodes through middle of the rock creating cracks by abrasion and hydraulic action. the cracks widen creating an arch. the base weakens and the roof colapses do to lack of support. headland bay remains standing this is a coastal stack. the stack is islolated from the mainland. this erodes and turns into a stump.

A

a sand split that joins/curves outwards and joins onto an island

17
Q

what is a sandbar

A

a sand split that has joined onto another part of land

18
Q

suggest a way to reduce the problem of tousists and day trippers leaving behind litter, this affecting locals

A

all bins removed to make touridt take litter hme instead of overflowing bins

19
Q

suggest a way to fix the problem of locals scared by live fire fired by the ministry of defence at camp

A

have the MOD place signage to notify people when they are there/practicing

20
Q

name the different places and things that can form at a coastal area

A

headland bay, bay, coast, beach, tombolo, footpaths, sand split, car park,
