Coastal Process’s Flashcards
Erosion
Water rubbing or hitting rock and slowly destroying it ( hydraulic action , abrasion, attraction solution )
Transportation
Longshoreman drift, traction, saltation, solution, suspension ( the movement of sediments being carried bounced etc by waves
Deposition
The drop of sediments due to a waves losing its energy and dropping all its sediments
Tides
High and low ( controlled by the moon)
Weathering
Mechanical chemical biological, ways things are broken down or destroyed e.g chemical acid rain, biological animals borrowing
Mass movement
Sliding slumping rockfalls they are all to do with massive parts of cliffs or rocks rolling or falling or slumping of a cliff
Traction
The dragging or pulling of rocks against the sea bed
Hydraulic action
The shade power of waves against the cliff side and forcing air bubbles in to cracks and crevices
Solution
When rocks and sediments are desolves by sea water
Saltation
Big rocks being bounced along the river bed or sea bed
