Q

Sand spit formation

A

Formed where the coastlime changes direction. Longshore drift transports sand and departs it in a sheltered area. Deposited sand builds up over time until its above sea level, this depostiton continues until the beach extends into the sea to form a spit. Sand spits cab also form a hooked end due to change in wind or wave direction. (what it looks like- long narrow ridges of sand)
