What is a spit?
A
Attached to land at one end, the proximal end and finishes in the sea or the river estuary.

What is a spit composed of ?
A
Sand and or shingle depending on the availability of material. The formation may change in the direction of the coastline.

What are tomobolos?
A
They develop where a spit joins an island to the mainland. Deposition occurs where waves lose their energy.
