-can be a loss of team spirit when things aren’t going well
-fear or aggression will not motivate some players.

democratic characteristics

democratic advantages
-mutual respect between coach and athlete- will improve team spirit
-athlete and coach trust each other
democratic disadvantages
-some athletes may try and take control of training
-training can become disorganized if everybody is having an input

-listening
-athletes makes decisions
-no real focus
-more of a consultant than a coach

-athletes can be independent
-creates a relaxed atmosphere, reducing pressure on coach and players

-serious/highly motivated athletes not provided for
-athletes may feel unsupported by their coach.

what are delagatory characteristics?
-uses a group of coaches who are experts in a particular area to achieve the vision of the head coach.
-usually seen at the elite level
delagatory advantages
-maintains athlete interest as they deal with a number of different people.

-very expensive
