Q

Describe duramater

A

Thick with lots of collagen and protects the brain in two layers one attaches to the cranium and one attaches to the deeper meninges
Spinal cord only has on layer

Q

Explain the function of Arachnoid mater

A

Attaches to the Duramater and sends projections into deeper meninges
the space between attachments is called subarachnoid space and is filled with cerebrospinal fluid to prevent and stop movement of the brain

Thin tightly adhered to the brain and spinal cord

holds blood vessels in place

Q

What is cerebrospinal fluid where is it produced and what does it fill

A

Produced by the choroid plexus which is comprised of empendymal cells and blood vessels it fills brain ventricles and subarachnoid space and runs in the venous system

Q

What is the order of the sinuses through which drainage occurs in the brain

A

Begin with superior and inferior sagittal sinuses inferior drains to the straight sinus then meet together with the superior sinus at the confluence of sinuses then to transverse sinuses to sigmoid sinus to internal jugular veins
