CN I- Olfactory Flashcards
1
Q
Where does CN I arise from?
A
Cerebrum
2
Q
Where does CN I exit?
A
Cribriform plate
3
Q
What modality does CN I have?
A
Sensory- Special Visceral Sensory
4
Q
Where does the olfactory bulb lie?
A
Olfactory groove in anterior cranial fossa
5
Q
Where does the olfactory tract travel?
A
Posteriorly on inferior surface of frontal lobe
6
Q
What does the olfactory tract divide into?
A
Lateral stria- carries axons to primary olfactory cortex (uncus of temporal lobe)
Medial stria- carries axons across medial plane of anterior commissure until they meet olfactory bulb of opposite side
7
Q
What do the primary and secondary olfactory cortices do?
A
1- sends nerve fibres to piriform cortex, amygdala
