What is the main purpose of the CMOP-E?
It addresses how a person, their environments and their occupations interact to influence occupational performance. It also identifies how enablement and client-entered practice are the main processes through which OT’s facilitate occupational performance and engagement.
What are the 3 main components of the CMOP-E?
Person > Occupation > Environment
What is at the centre of the model?
Spirituality
What are the three aspects that make up the person component of the model?
Physical, cognitive and affective.
What are the three aspects that make up the occupation component of the model?
Self care, productivity and leisure.
What are the four aspects that make up the environment component of the model?
Social, physical, cultural and institutional.
Describe physical.
A person’s mobility, strength, power, flexibility etc.
Describe cognitive.
A person’s attention, memory, focus, awareness, communication etc.
Describe affective.
A person’s thoughts, feelings, moods, attitudes etc.
Describe self care occupations.
BADL’s, IADL’s etc.
Describe productive occupations.
Working, roles, volunteering, contributing to society etc.
Describe leisure occupations.
Occupations that are fun and pleasurable in a person’s life.
Describe physical environment.
The build environment such as buildings, landscapes, access, climate etc.
Describe social environment.
Social support from family, friends, services etc.
Describe cultural environment.
Customs, beliefs, traditions etc.
