Why USA opposed to takeover of Cuba
A
- fidel castro was suspected communist as he was supported by Cuban Communist Party
- Overthrowing Fulgencio Batista would mean the US would not have a stronghold in Cuba as the pro-US leader will no longer be there to favour the US in trading
- Fidel Castro threaten US SOI as having a Comm country in their own backyard is dangerous they are in close proximity of an attack

Why USA opposed to takeover of CUBA ( trade )
A
- cuba is largest produces of sugar and tobacco which were sought after in europe as such it is valuable to have cuba as a trading partner
- US private companies also export and produce tobacco and sugar was protected by the pro-Us leader batista
- Castro was anti-american and wanted to remove dollar imperialism in Cuba which put american industries at risk

america scared castro would no longer allow US to access and produce tobacco and sugar which are lucrative trades alongside removing their factories and threatening their economy

Bay of Pigs Invasion ( Apr 1961 )

- CIA developed a plan to overthrow castro by training Cuban exiles
- decision was first made by Eisenhower in March 1960 and when JFK took over office he continued it
- it severed all diplomatic relations with cuba but US said they had no control over exiles
- castro subdued exiles in 2 days
