What is Personality Disorder
Personality Disorder can be defined as a long-term pattern of maladaptive thinking, feeling and behavior that deviate from cultural expectations, cause distress, and impair daily functioning
Cluster A: Odd or Eccentric behavior

Paranoid Personality Disorder
Individuals with this disorder are often:
-distrustful and suspicious of others
-believing others are out to harm or deceive them
-highly sensitive to criticism and hold grudges
-reluctant to confide in others due to fear of betrayal
Schizoid Personality Disorder
People with this disorder:
-Lack of interest in close relationships including family
-Little to no desire for sexual/ romantic relationship
-Preference of solitude and little to no interest in social activities/ interactions
-Limited facial expressions
Schizotypal Personality Disorder
People with SPD are often characterized by:
-Eccentric behavior, speech and thinking patterns
-Social anxiety and discomfort in close relationships
-Paranoid ideas
-Belief in magical thinking and superstitions
Cluster B: Dramatic/Emotional and Erratic
-Anti-social Personality Disorder
-Borderline Personality Disorder
-Histrionic Personality Disorder
-Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Characterized by:
-Disregard for others rights, lack of empathy and manipulative behavior
-Aggressiveness, lack of remorse and irresponsibility
-Repeated engagement in illegal activities or lying
Borderline Personality Disorder
Characterized by:
-Intense fear of abandonment and unstable relationships
-Rapid mood swings and reckless behavior
-Difficulty regulating emotions and frequent outburst
Histrionic Personality Disorder
Characterized by:
- Excessive attention seeking behavior
-Overly Flirtatious, provocative and dramatic actions
-Easily influenced by others and overly concerned with appearance.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Characterized by:
-Grandiose sense of self-importance and need for admiration
-Lack of empathy and exploitation of others
-Strong sense of entitlement and arrogance.
Cluster C: Anxious or Fearful Personality Disorder
-Avoidant Personality Disorder
-Dependent Personality Disorder
-Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder
Avoidant Personality Disorder
-Extreme fear or rejection and criticism
- Avoids social interactions despite wanting a relationship
-Low self esteem and hypersensitivity to negative feedback
Dependent Personality Disorder
-Fear of abandonment and inability to function independently
-Excessive reliance on others for emotional and decision-making support
-Willing to endure mistreatment in order to maintain relationships
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
-Pre-occupation with order, perfectionism and control
-Rigid adherence to rules and an inability to delegate tasks
-Extreme focus on work at the expense of leisure and relationships
