Cloud & On-premise Flashcards
Cloud vs On-premise
Overall, cloud is better. It’s cheaper, easier to access, takes less to maintain, and is flexible for future needs
Public Cloud
Off site storage/compute. Anyone is able to access content
Private Cloud
Off-site storage/compute. Access limited to those with proper credentials
Hybrid Cloud
Mix of public and private cloud. Best for sensitive material on private and all else in public
SaaS
Software as a service.
Ex. Accounting software for accounting firms.
Limited to only using software, no modification
PaaS
Platform as a service.
Ex. Google app engine
More flexible from the software side, but infrastructure is limited
IaaS
Infrastructure as a service
Ex. AWS Azure
Hardware and networking as setup as needed. Most flexible, but comes at a cost
